I have good intentions, but I never do it. But now geowench has wished, so here we are.

We moved on June 29.  The decision to do it happened so fast I still have whiplash.  When we bought our last place we knew we wouldn't be there forever - it was the five year plan.  It turned in to six.  We had been talking about saving up and buying a place in Alameda once Bob finished school and got a good job.  and he did those things (in January) but between both our student loans, medical bills, random credit cards, we were breaking even on those payments.  But our house doubled in value, so we decided to see if we could rent, because I had terrible credit thanks to the foreclosure, and then sell the house, pay off everything and be able to save for real.

Except it turns out my credit is fantastic?  I have no clue how that works, but we found the perfect place the first week we started looking, picked a few places to compare it to, and got the keys three weeks later.

Our old place is being painted now and we hope to be on the market in the next three weeks or so.

We're about 25% unpacked at this point.  I'm taking it slow, trying to donate things that we don't need or use.  Sort of a reverse Kondo.

------

That's been eating my life for the last six weeks, and I'm exhausted. Looking forward to starting to live life here, get to the gym, go for walks in the neighborhood.  Cook.  Garden.

I feel like the last six years were on pause in some way.  Or maybe the last five.  Cancer swallowed me whole, and leaving that house, moving back to a town I love, feels like a good way to start over.

Big Little Lies, Lianne Moriarty

I'd read another of hers, What Alice Forgot, and liked it OK. I decided to read this one ahead of the HBO version. I think this one is better. It's a murder mystery, where you don't know who the killer is, or who died. Mostly it's about a group of women who live in a wealthy suburb of Sidney and who get caught up in some drama around their five year old children. Moriarty is an interesting writer - she draws fantastic characters, and her plots are good, but her writing is a little meh. I'm not sure if I'll read more, but I'd recommend this one. Having read this, and seen only the first episode of the show, the casting is absolutely perfect.
Should have done this years ago, honestly.

Future entries will be private.
